なお、温泉山（雲仙）の詳しい歴史・史跡案内（史跡ガイドフィールドマップ）、雲仙自然パンフレット（野鳥・植物・昆虫の詳細カラーパンフ）等は、本館より徒歩３分程の「雲仙お山の情報館 別館（ 旧雲仙公園ビジターセンター）Free Wi-Fi ・通年開館；９時〜１７時」へ行こう！

　Welcome to the Mt. Unzen Visitor Center, nestled at the foot of the many peaks collectively called Unzen-dake. Inside, you can learn about the natural and cultural stories hidden within Unzen’s quiet temples, steaming hot springs, and towering mountains.
　Permanent exhibits detail the Shimabara Peninsula’s topography, wildlife, and plant life. Photos of the region across the seasons show the ever-changing faces of the mountains, and specimens of local birds and insects bring you up close to its permanent residents. Information on flowering plants and seasonal wildlife is updated daily, and pamphlets are available in multiple languages.
　Unzen has a deep cultural history going back thousands of years, but few know it was also Japan’s first summer resort for Western tourists. The center’s history corner displays a collage of early twentieth-century photographs that capture carefree days of parties, hiking, and golf—a delightful look into the vacations of the past for today’s travelers.
　Do you know the science behind your dip in the hot spring? The second floor provides in-depth information on the Shimabara Peninsula’s complex geological history and modern volcanic activity. Here, you can learn about the unusual movement of magma deep beneath your feet and the different hot spring waters it produces. Maps and diagrams explain the geological forces that formed the Shimabara Peninsula and led to eruptions in the 1990s.
