■ 雲仙温泉街について

東西1km、南北0.5kmの中心街に約700名の住民が住んでいます。矢岳ふもとに見える白い部分は地獄地帯です。ここには自然歩道があり、20分ほどの散策コースとなっています。
　左上の湖水は「オシドリの池（別所ダム）」で冬季はカモ類の観察が楽しめます。オシドリの池には一周約2.5kmの自然歩道が整備されており、途中では巨岩の刻まれた磨崖仏「大黒天」を見ることができます。
　手前の小さな池は「白雲の池」です。夏場は避暑地ということもあり、キャンプ利用者で賑わっています。ここからは平成新山を遠望でき、秋（11月中旬）には周辺樹木が見事な紅葉に染まり、写真撮影する人、絵を描く人が多く見られます。また近くに絹笠山への登山道入口があり、登山道を登ること約30分で絶景の山頂へつきます。
　絹笠山頂からは、眼下に温泉街、遠望に平成新山、普賢岳、妙見岳の全景を観ることができます。模型の下に位置する絹笠山。外国人の訪問で賑わっていた明治大正期には、多くの外国人が好んで登山し、西側（千々石湾）山頂からの夕日が美しかった事からサンセットヒルと呼ばれていました。
模型の右下に見るのが小地獄温泉です。温泉街から徒歩約15分。白濁の湯で知られる「小地獄温泉」があります。

About Unzen Onsen Town
In the central district, spanning 1km east to west and 0.5km north to south, approximately 700 residents reside. The white area visible at the base of Mount Yudake is a hellish zone. A natural walking trail is present here, forming a roughly 20-minute walking course.
The lake in the upper left is known as "Oshidori Pond (Bessho Dam)," where winter allows for the enjoyable observation of waterfowl. Around Oshidori Pond, there is a approximately 2.5km natural walking trail, featuring along the way a monumental rock-carved cliffside Buddha known as "Daikokuten."
The smaller pond in the foreground is "Shirakumo Pond." During the summer, it becomes a popular summer resort and is bustling with campers. From here, you can have a distant view of Mount Heisei Shinzan, and in mid-November, the surrounding trees display a magnificent autumn foliage, attracting photographers and artists. Additionally, there is an entrance to the climbing trail towards Mount Kinugasayama nearby, and it takes approximately 30 minutes to reach the stunning summit.
From the summit of Mount Kinugasayama, you can overlook the entire scenery of the hot spring town below, with distant views of Mount Heisei Shinzan, Mount Fugen, and Mount Myokendake. Mount Kinugasayama, positioned beneath the model, was popularly known as "Sunset Hill" during the bustling Meiji-Taisho era when many foreigners enjoyed climbing it, drawn by the beautiful sunset views from the western side (Chigusokowan) summit.
In the lower right corner of the model is the "Kojigoku Onsen." It is approximately a 15-minute walk from the hot spring town and is known for its milky white hot spring waters..
