"European Ken" is the Western restaurant that is the originator of Fukui's specialty, Sauce Katsudon.
Masutaro Takahata, who studied cooking in Germany for 6 years from 1907, created this sauce cutlet rice bowl with a hint of German cutlet "schnitzel" in 1917 when he returned to Japan.
At that time, the new way of eating it attracted attention, and it is said that sauce katsudon spread all over the country at once. After that, Europe-ken opened a store in Tokyo, and the Fukui base started operations as "Fukui Europe-ken". Currently, it is operated as the main store of Europe Ken and is familiar to local residents.
The Worcestershire sauce used for the sauce cutlet is homemade, and is a secret gem of a German-made sauce with spices added. It has a strong fan following due to its exquisite balance and taste.
In addition to the sauce katsudon, it is also attractive that you can enjoy original recipes such as mince katsudon, which is called “Paris don” at Europe Ken.
