The Besshi Line is a scenic spot that stretches approximately 10 kilometers from the vermilion Shoji Bridge built upstream of the Kokuryo River to Kawamata.
Centered around the 60-meter-high Kiyotaki Falls, which has been selected as one of Ehime's top 100 natural wonders, the area includes Minetopia Besshi, Shikamori Dam, and Otoshi Valley.
In the 1950s, most of the valley was designated as a scenic spot by the prefecture, where you can not only enjoy the beauty of nature, but also enjoy seeing old-fashioned buildings. The old brick-built hydroelectric power plant was built in 1902 and has a distinctive church-like appearance.
Furthermore, the Totoshi Bridge, which spans the Kojorogawa River, is a double bridge that was rebuilt from a copper-iron arch bridge built in the 1900s.
It is widely known as a famous spot for autumn leaves due to its beautiful autumn leaves, but the cherry blossoms in spring and the fresh greenery in early summer are also especially beautiful, and many tourists visit throughout the year.
